This morning, I heard that Anthropic would no longer provide coding help to people paying $20 a month, so I asked Claude about it. Claude searched diligently and told me: This is hot news! It literally happened two days ago. To be precise, it’s not that “coding won’t be done” — it was an attempt to remove Claude Code from the Pro plan. On April 21st, Anthropic quietly removed the Claude Code entry from the $20/month Pro plan pricing page. No announcement whatsoever. Developers noticed and caused an uproar. The page was changed to say that Claude Code would require at least the $100/month Max plan — five times the price of Pro. Anthropic’s explanation was that it was “only tested on 2% of new users,” but since the entire public page had changed, they were criticized for the inconsistency.
