Starting Moeum School Development

I thought about creating a learning environment for users

Snow is falling like baby’s breath flowers.
The return rate of Soosooland has been dropping, and I thought Soosooland might be failing.
I also played Wordle for a few days and then stopped. Same with Civilization - played it enthusiastically and then quit.
All those countless games that have passed through my life… Actually, I don’t play any games now.
So I figured people who came to Soosooland would be the same way.

Then I saw hope.
The usage time of active users has increased.

Month - Active Users - Average Usage Time per Active User
July - 106 users - 1 min 50 sec
August - 213 users - 2 min 36 sec
September - 212 users - 3 min 51 sec
October - 253 users - 3 min 15 sec
November - 170 users - 5 min 41 sec
December - 322 users - 6 min 55 sec
January 1-11 - 107 users - 2 min 23 sec

I thought people would play more during winter break, but they didn’t, so I need to create reasons for them to visit daily.
To do that, I’d need to make them compete with each other, save scores so they can challenge higher scores, give benefits for daily attendance,
or embed small games into adventure games…
Whatever I do, it would require login systems, game data management, and much more capacity.
That’s beyond my capabilities.

I will make quizzes with words from textbooks

Anyway, I thought - it’s winter break, so I should make them study. I need to create Moeum School.
Since I already have Moeum Round, I’ll create quizzes with concepts and vocabulary from the elementary school curriculum
and put them into Moeum Round’s game files…
It seems like there will be a lot of content, so I’ll manage the word pools separately.

Claude created the Moeum School game file and Moeum School word pool samples for me.

While testing the game, I noticed that for me on iPad, entering vowels by touch is fine… on phones too…
But clicking with a mouse on desktop would be cumbersome.
So I created a consonant input field. Above the consonant buttons, it currently says “Please select a consonant.”
So I made a small input field next to it for entering consonants
and changed the text to “Click or type a consonant.”
When you type a consonant in the input field using the keyboard, it’s recognized the same as clicking a consonant button.
If you enter vowels or English letters, it coolly ignores them.
I didn’t make annoying alert windows that you have to close. The entered consonant is visible for about 0.1 seconds.
And I made the consonant input field invisible on phones.

Although Moeum School is still under development, after consulting with Claude, I decided to release it publicly
with “Moeum School (Under Development)” as the game title
and “(Sample)” attached to the file button names.
I found and added an “under construction” image
and placed it at the end of the Soosooland platform.

After that, considering this is an educational tool, I changed the game structure. Unlike Moeum Round’s 10-round, 100-point format, I made Moeum School present all problems in the word pool. I also added a “retry wrong answers” feature so students can practice the questions they missed.

There seems to be a lot of work ahead, but without overdoing it, I’ll steadily create word pools, at least one unit per day.
