From Choir Recordings to Game Development
A Church Choir Recording Incident 20 Years Ago and Its Connection to Game Development
Uploading Church Choir Songs to the InternetOne day while singing in the church choir, I had a novel idea: what if I recorded our songs and uploaded them online for others to listen to?
I went to the choir, recorded the songs, and uploaded them to a cafe (online community).
The Mystery of Music That Only Plays on My Computer
However, the file path used my own computer’s location. In other words, the music address should have been “http://cafe.daum.net/…”
But it became “c:/My Documents/Mom/Choir.….”
So the music played at my house. Oops! It didn’t play at other people’s houses. Hahaha
It took me a whole week of racking my brain to solve that problem.
Starting to Look at Code
That’s when I learned I could view code in Daum Cafe.I didn’t have a phone that could record, so I used a voice recorder (MyMy). I stopped because the sound quality was poor.
Becoming a Master of Copy-Pasting and Posting
Then I started copying and pasting or linking things like humor, photos, videos, and songs, becoming a master of copy-pasting and posting.I also went to websites that distributed hymn books and brought sheet music and sound files from there. Later, as I became more skilled, I split the sheet music by parts to make it easier to practice. Sometimes, when I couldn’t split it, I drew each note one by one. I converted them into sound files so people could view the sheet music and listen to the sound together.
In 2025, That Experience Helped with Game Development
That experience seemed like a waste of time, but it also seems to have helped me look at code without feeling unfamiliar when making games.Another funny thing was when I tried to upload games to Naver Cafe or Naver Blog, thinking other people would be able to play them, and failed. Hahaha
