Scoreboard Bug Fix
Scoreboard Bug Fix
October 5th,2025
I fixed the issue where the scoreboard in Wordpuzzmate was disappearing and getting cut off.
The cause was excessive responsive design settings.
When the screen is wide, the scoreboard is positioned on the left and right sides of the grid,
and when the screen is narrow, the scoreboard is positioned below the grid.
Since the grid size is responsive,
calculating the screen size for moving the scoreboard was complex, and when the calculations didn’t work properly and it went off-screen, it was set to hidden,
causing the scoreboard to disappear.
So by fixing the size of the grid and scoreboard, the screen size calculations for where the scoreboard should move became easier, and it also became possible to recommend games with smaller grids on smaller screens.
However, while testing the game, I looked at the four-character idiom file and discovered that all sorts of words were included in the word pool.
When creating the game, I thought it would be good to have a rich word pool, so I just added whatever came to mind. There were non-idioms mixed in, so I removed them, and there were even non-Chinese character words mixed in.
I deleted words like “paper bag,” “vinyl umbrella,” “credit card,” “gas mask,” “deadline notice,” and “floor heating.” Although I named the file “four-character idioms,” there were many words that weren’t four characters, so following Claude’s suggestion, I renamed it everyday character chinese words".
After creating this new word pool and uploading it for testing, it couldn’t fetch the word pool and an error occurred.
Upon inspection, I had added an extra comma, so I deleted it,
and I discovered that I had mistakenly uploaded the Wordpuzzmate file to Wordpuzz,
so I found the history in Wordpuzz and restored it to the previous file.
Since the games on Soosooland aren’t perfect yet, I’ve been too busy improving the games to pay attention to promotion or development logs.
Even though I haven’t been promoting, I’d like to extend my greetings for the Chuseok holiday to the new users who have found us. And of course, I’m even more grateful to the users who have helped spread the word to bring new users here. I hope you all have a wonderful Chuseok holiday.
